RUMOURED RUSSIAN AGGRESSION.
A Press Association Message dated London February 18 th states : — Telegrams have been received stating that a detachment of Russian troops have seized and occupied Mcr\\ territory in Western Turkestan, 300 miles south-east of Khiva. The territory lias been formally annexed to Russia. A letter message dated London February 23rd aays: — Symptoms of renewed Russian aggressian towards India and a desire for annexation it Affghanistan are reported from Balkh. Lord B. Fitz» maurice, in refrence to the reports, has pointed out that England now governs Quetta, and controls the Bolan Pass, which is the chief thoroughfare from Central Asia to India.
