[BY TKLKGBAPH.— FUKSS ASbOWATION.] Wellington, ucsday. T»B General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church opened to-uiuht. After public worship and dispensation of the Lord's Supper, the retiring moderator, Rev. R. Soinerville of Aueklai.d, constituted the Assembly. Owing to the death of the Secretary, the Rev. J. Paterson was asked to act as clerk until one was appointed. The changes that had taked place in the various Piesbyteries were then read. Considerable discussion took place on the question of the Rev. -Mr Killen as to the right of the Rev David Sidey, in Napier, who had resigned active duties in Hawke's Bay Distiict, but Btill was sent as Minister of St. Paul's, Napier, to t.ike part and vote in the Assembly, it being contended that the laws of the church wcie in opposition to this. Mr riidey demanded his light to take part and vote on the ground that it was one of the conditions of Ins icsignation. Atter further discussion the matter was allowed to stand over until to-mor-row. The retning Model. itor thanked the Assembly for the kindness and forbearance he had received at their hands during his teuu of oilico, and then nominated the Rev. Mr Doull, of Bulls, as his sucoessor. This was seconded by Mr Sidey, and also seconded by Mr Killen, to prevent the Assembly from error until the affairs of Mr Sidey weic decided. Mr Doull thanked them foi the high honour confened upon him, and deliveied an address on "Some phases of thought in relation to Revelations and lessons to be demtd therefrom." Seveial business committees were appointed, and the Assembly adjourned until eleven o'clock to-morrow morning.
