The deaths of persons not resident of boroughs occurring at hospitals have been excluded in all case*. The total birth* in the above boroughs amounted to 528 against 412 in December, an increase of 11(5. The deaths in January were 17."), an inciease of 27 in the number for December. Of thu above deaths males contiibuted 103, females 72. 7o of the deaths were of children under five year-, of age, being 42.80 per cent of the whole number ; 01 of these were of children under one year of age.
