FATAL RIDING ACCIDENT AT CAMBRIDGE.
A NATIVE KILLKD. On Monday evening last a native named Te Wha, belonging to the Tamahere settlement, was found lying dead on the Victoria road, Cambridge, near the Church of England corner. It appear* the unfortunate native had come into town during the day, and as usual indulged rather freely in liquor. Two men were passing down the road a short time after the accident when they heard the noise of a man moaning in the middle of the road. They proceeded to the spot and found what appeared to them to bo a native in a drunken btate, having a sleep on the road. On further investigation, however, they came to the conclusion there was something serious the matter with him, and so informed the police of the affair. Constable Dillon immediately proceeded to the spot, and on examination. found life to be extinct. The body was immediately conveyed to tho National Hotel to await an inquest.
