REWI AND THIS HERALD.
TO CHE 3:i)irOK. Sir, — In the Heiald new.spaper of the IVUt ult. I noticed a telegram from Rcwj, winch ran as follows :—": — " He tika taku korero kia Tawlu.io on^a,! i, ko taku wche i au i a to Knini me te Kawanatanga, kaoir ka mau tonu au ki ate Kumi." The translation of which was given thub :—": — " What 1 b.ud to Tawhuo w,i& conect, butlfeaied both the Queen and (roveinment, neverthe less I will continue to be loyal to the Queen." I think the following would be a more correct tiau*»lation :— " What T said to Tawhiiit) was conect, but my boveranco of myNelf from the Queen and the Government is not con eft. I will continue to be lojal to the Queen." The tiauslator has evidently mistaken the word " wehe" foi " wehi, 1 ' each of which has a distinct meaning. — Youib, &c, William H. Wallis. Hamilton, 4th Feb.
