NAPIER, Wednesday.
To-day was the fiist clay of the lam fair. Partly owing to the enormous number of sheep fiom all paits of the colony which have been yarded, and partly, peihaps, to the scaicity of money, prices obtained Moie not ccjual to the average of past yens. The top price was 73 guineas, for a rani hied by Mr Tanner. One of Mr Haidy's biought 60 guineas, tlnee oO guineas, and one New Zealand and Anstialian Land Company's 42 guineas. Locally bred sheep were in the ascendant, but Menlove and Fred. Suttons Southland will not be sold until to-morrow. Mr M. R. Miller and Messrs Hoadley and Lyon wei'e the auctioneeis.
