Mkssrs R. M. Heighton" and Co., labour ajonta, 177 Queen-street, Auckland, report. —Business brisk ; engagements many ; orders come in plentiful. Women servants and good farm hands are still in groat demand, although many engagements have been completed during the last week. Engagements as follows :—Farm hands, 15s to 255, and found ; good milkers, 15s to 20s ; married couples, for farms, 952 to £80, and found ; bushmen and roadmakers, (U to 8s per day ; grooms and gardeners, 25s to 40s ; cooks, 20s to 50.s ; waiters, 25s to SOa ; hotelmen, 15s to 30s ; stoiemen, at .current wages ; and also clerks ; housekeepers, 15s to 25s ; general servants 8s to 15s*; housemaids, 8s to 12s ; cooks. 12s to 25s ; nursegirls, 4s to 10a ; governesses and others at miscellaneous salaries. Waiting 'for employment: Good men cooks, grooms and gardeners, waiters and hotelmen, storemen, farm hands, boys and youths, young men for light employment, and housekeepers. N.B.—-Many refusals have been made by *good men for distant situations, on account of having to advance their own passage money.
