LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH.— -OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Boird of Education. AroKLAND, Friday Night. At the Bi)ard of Education to-day, a tel gram w.is received from Wellington, stating that the building grant for the year would amount to £9,632. It was shown that the board required £12,021 to meet the present liability in contracts, grants, and overdrafts, and that, reckoning all sources of revenue, there would be a deficit of £13,481 after receiving the grant to supply urgent need. The lioii'd resolved to communicate the state of athura to the Minister for Education.

Success of Waikato Boys. The following Waikato boys are successful wiuneisof scholarships :—Rich ird Maclauiin, Hautapu, 794 marks; Robert John Gwynne, Hamilton, 704 macks. The following secured certificates :— Albert Fuller Ellis, Cambridge High School, 083 marks; Annie Elizabeth Morgan, Cambridge, 646.

Accident. Mr Robt. McKay was dragged round a paddock at the Lake for a mile by a runaway horse. Though the body was bruised no bones were broken.
