Waikato Timci Of/ire, Friday. auckland livk stock market Mr Alfred Buckland's Weekly Report.—At the Haymarket on Friday, 4th January, fodder was in full supply, and brought from 3s to Gs Gd per cwt., and straw 30s to 578 6d the load. Horse stock were iv less numbar than usual, but fair inquiry, particulai'ly heavy draught stock, for which there is an unsatisfied demand. On Tuesday both hay and straw were in larger quantity than for some weeks, and met a steady bale at Fridays values. On Tuesday best hides brought from 2\d to 3-j-d per lb. ; sheep skins, Is Id to 3s 3ct each ; kegs tallow, 27s Gd per cwt. ; and a very numerous lot of bags and parcels of wool and locks at satisfactory prices. On Wednesday about 230 bales of wool were Bold ; bidding was brisk throughout, and prices given were higher than at any previous sale this season. At the monthly cattle sale, held at Waiuku on Saturday last, there was a full muster of stock. Steers of all classes were in good enquiry at full values, but cows, were neglected, and consequently at low prices. At Pukekohe, on Monday, following consequent on the opening of the factory, cows were in good demand at an advance of fully 30a each above the Waiuku prices, and steers were comparatively neglected. There was a larger muster of cattle yarded. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cattle weie in better enquiry than for some time past. Store cattle, particularly heifers, at low values. Fat cattle in full number met with a steady demand throughout the salo at last week's values. Sheep were plentiful but not many of prime quality. Piices were good throught ; best weathers at 18s 6d, fully 2Jd the lb ; lambs in moderate number, and those of good quality ranged from 12s to 10s each. Averages were : 7 head, cows and oxen, G. Allen, £9 ; 39 steers, E. Rogers, £8 7s 9d ; 8 steeis, J. Macdonald, £8 os ; 21 steers, Auckland Agricultural Co., £S ; 5 steers, Paton Bros., £7 17s ; 4 steers C. Storey, £8 ; 2s Gd : 8 Steers, J. Williamson, £7 13s Gd ; 8 steers, R, and S. Tisdall, £7 12s Gd ;27 lambs, G. Storey, 14s 3d ; 31 lambs, J, Crane, lls 9d ; 30 lambs, J. Blackett, 11s 4d. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Report. — The supply has been up to requuements for light hacks, — but for carriage hoises, 'bus horses, and good quick medium draughts the inquiry has been brisk, and not sufficient brought forward. On Fiiday, at Durham Yards, theie was a very large number entered and a gieat number of competitors. Bidding a\ as biisk, and most in weie disposed of at satisfactoiy prices. We bold hacks at from £4 15s to £1G ; medium draught at from £18 to £24 ; 'bus and cab horses at from £1G to £27 10a. Wool, hides, and skins : Hides were in more than usual numbers, and sold at from 2^d to 2d 15-lGth ; skins, at from Is 4d to 3» Gd ; tallow, £1 2s Gd to £1 9i per cwt. Cattle : Owing to the holidays the Papakura sale was held on Monday. The yards were fairly filled, and prices (especially for fullgrown steeis) weie fully maintained. At the Junction Yauls, on Tuesday, store stock were well represented, also a good number of daiiy stock, and for good quality high pi ices weie given. The beef market was well supplied, and for choice oxen theie was a consideiable impiovement in last week's prices. For calves, yearlings, and dry cows, no peiceptiable alteration in value. For good fiesh steers, theie is constant enquiry at from £4 10-. to £o". Sheep, in good supply, and though scarcely up to requiieinents, fold at : for wetheis, fiom 15s (id to 18s ; fat ewes, lls to lb's ; lambs in full supply, and sold at 4s 3d to 14s Gd ; pigs scarce and demand for porkeia good.
