OXFORD ANNUAL RACES.

Stewards : Mr R Fawcett, Mr Ward, Mr G. Kelly and Mr Mclnamey ; Judge : Mi- A. Isaacs ; Hmidicappers : Me<«sis R. Kirkwood and W. Scott ; Staiter : Mr A. Heaiiy ; Clerks of Course : Messrs Downing and Robinson ; Clerk of Scales : Mr Tyson ; Hon. Sec. : Mr H. McClelland. Thet-e races, which came oil on the course at Oxford on Bo\ing Day, under the auspices of the Oxford Jockey Club, were, as we piedicted, successful, both :is legards the racing and the attendance of the district public. There was an unusually large number of natives on the giound, -who seemed to take a supreme interest in the various contests of the day, and the Europeans present represented the respective outlying districts, including Cambridge. The course was in very fair condition, and the Stewards had evidently exerted themselves to satisfy their patrons in every particular. The energetic secretary, Mr McClelland, deserves niuch credit for his conduct of matters in connection with the meeting. It must be admitted, however, that the Stewards erred in not having the amounts of the prizes published before closing the entries, as we believe the fields would have been much larger had this been done. The following is a detailed account of the racing :—: — Maidkn Plate, of lOsovs., 1^ miles, weight for age. For horses that have never won an advertised prize exceeding lOsovs. Enhance lsov.
