Tawhiao arrived here last Saturday, and had an interview with Rowi and Wahanui. He said he could offer no objection to the survey, and advised Hnuauru and the other objectmo to withdraw their opposition to the work. For thib purpose he went to Koiakanui aud spoke to the Ngatihaus, exhorting them to be peaceful, and not -to quarrel with the Nga.timn »•"!«•*""• aome of t.hp funnci , U Is t>aid, threatened to resort to fh earing against the latter if the survey was persisted in, but after Tawhiao having expressed himself so decidedly in the matter, they cannot very well persist m their obstruction, he having baid that he wished to abide by the law. As far as I can learn fiom Rewi— with whom I had a conversation — Hauauru will offer no more opposition, and if the Ngatihaus continue their obstruction, the Ngatituaniapotos will turn them off their hind on which the former are now living. NEW YKAIl's DAY hPOUTS. The programme which has. been advertised in your paper is a most attractive one, aud should draw good fields.. Many people from all parts of the district have piomised to attend, and as the committee have arranged to have a band in attendance on the course, a very enjoyable day may be looked forwaid to. Mr Wilkinson will' look after the creature comforts of the visitors. Mr (inlet, of Cambridge, has taken over the Alpha Hotel from Mr Miller. — (Own Correspondent. )
