T>UBLIC NOTIFICATION. LAND DISTRICT OF AUCKLAND. SALE OF RUAKITURT BLOCK, WAIROA, NEAP, HAWKE'S BAY. IS Sections in the above block, comprising an area of •24,5)<i0 acres., "ill be ottered for sale on immediate payments, at Napier, on the 17th January, 1884. Upset price from Gs to lospcracie. At the same time and place, 5 Sections Uri the same block, tompi isiiig an area of I '4863 acres, will be offered for lease for depasturing purposes for a period of ten years, at an upset price per annum of from £7 10s to £.30 a Section. The Ruakituri Block is situated in the County of Wairoa, about 12 miles fiom the Township of Clyde. It extends some 20 miles to the westward ftom the Gtsborne-Wiiiroa Road, and lies between the Ruakituri and Maimaruhc Rivers. The main road fiom Wairoa to Gisborne passes close to the eastern side of the Block. Thirty-three miles of bridle roads on the permanent grades, and heven miles of stock-driving roads, have been opened out to give access to these lands. The whole Block, with the exception of a few Hats on the Ruakituri Ri\ er, is pastoral country. The vegetation consists /of fern on the spins and in the valleys, . and of scrub and bash in the steep gullies. The soil varies ; in places it is light and mixed with a slight coating of pumice in other parts where the pumice drift has been washed down the steep hill sides it is a calcareous clay. The sub-soil is marl ; r -on the higher hills there is an overlap of Sandstone and a little limestone near Te Tuhi. These lands will take gra3S by f >ui'face sowing : the average cost for tenciug, seed-sowing, etc., is from 20s to 30s an acre.
