S. PETER'S CHURCH, HAMILTON. Sale of Work.

A sale of work, in aid of the funds of the above church, was held at the Public Hall, Hamilton, yesteiday. The ladies of the congregation have been busily engaged tor months past, but much of that which resulted from their hearty labours was disposed of piivjvtely ; the balance was submitted to the general public yesterday. The hall was piettily decorated with evergreens and flags, and a charming Christmas tree graced the south end. The following ladies presided at the stalls : — Mesdames Biggs, Searancke, Hume, and Ware, Mdlles. Searancke and Biggs, while Mrs K. F. S.uides and Miss levels had charge of a very enticing refreshment stall, where strawberi ies and cream and numberless other dainties were dispensed throughout the day, and met with a libeial patronage. The articles on s.de weie chiefly of a useful rather than an ornamental character, but no taste was dhregaided, and eveiything was sold. The attendance was fair, though, owing to the state of the weather, there were very few country people present. The goods remaining unsold last night were auctioned by Mr Bradley, who very efficiently performed his honorary duty. During the evening the String Band pei formed selections, and added much to the success of the proceedings. The receipts amounted to -£41 l&s !)d, and theie yet lemains £4 or £."> to come in, a result with which the ladies' committee U fully satisfied.
