Messrs R. M. Heigh ton and Co., 177 Queen-street, Auckland, report : — Tho arrival of the s.s. Triumph has caused sonu 1 little excitement in tho labour market, and the supply of men servants has been brisk. Our demands have enabled us to find employment for a large number. The demand for women .servants exceeds the supply, and high wages are offering for good servant*. Needlewomen and married couples are plentiful. Our engagements were :— Fat m hands, 15s to 255; milkers, 10-. to 20s; grooms and gardeners, 15s to 30s ; butchers, 30s to 60s ; bakers' assistants, 15s to 30s ; labourers, Gs to 8s ; tradesmen, 7s to l'2s ; coal miners, 8s to i).s per day ; shop hand-., 15a to 30-! ; shop boys, 5s to 12s ; boys for farms, 5s to 8s ; housekeepers, £50 ; housemaids, 8s to 12s ; needlewomen and lady assistants, 10s to 12s ; general servants, 8s to 14s ; laundresses, 12s to 15s ; cooks, 12s to 25s ; nursegirls, 4s to 7s ; barmaid, 20k ; man cook, 30s. Employers wanting men should post their orders early.
