Te Awamutu Annual Races.

The programme for the Te Awamutu annual races, under the auspices of the Wai pa Jockey Club, appears in our advertising columns. It is of a character which reflects much credit on the settlers of that very forward district. The meeting will be held in Mr Taylors, paddock on Tuesday, •January 29th. The programme consists of a Handicap Hurdle Race of 25 soys., a Maiden Plate of 15 soys., a Cup of 50 soys., a Stakes Handicap of 15 soys., a Publican's Purse of 20 soys., a Selling Hack Race of 15 soys., and a Consolation of 10 soys., this lepresentingno less a sum than £150 to bo jfiven in prizes. The day of the meeting has been so arranged as not to clash with any other meeting either at Auckland or in the Waikato ; .so that lai ge fields may bs expected, including some of the best blood in the province. If the weather is good on bhe occasion, a Urge attendance of the public may be expected. Considering the pleasant experience of the Cambridge Jockey Club in regard to the use of the totalisator at its meeting-*, we have little doubt but that the Wai pa Club will follow its example, and either purchase a totalisator, or else make an arrangement with Mr Adams for the use of his, on the same terms as those enjoyed by the Cambridge Club.
