TELEPHONIC COMMUNICATION WITH RAGLAN.

Wk care glad to notice that the time has at last arrived when telephonic communication with Raglan is about to be established. For some time past this has been a great desideratum with the people of Raglan, and the settlers between here and that township, Qomnmnioatipn with Raglan has been exceedingly bad indeedi the visits of steamers being, like the proverbial angels' visits, few and far between; and the roads, which form the only means of communication with the civilization of the interior, partaking more of the nature of impassable barriers than facilities of travel. The experiences of the winter just closed (?) fully corroborate this fact, as at times not only was it impossible for a c'ach or buggy to make its wa,y tjhrougfh ; tjufc horsemen found th,a task ivelhnigh. im.puaotlaab.le, at least decidedly difficult. In a sense, Raglan has been isolated for many months past, and much inconvenience has thus been caused to the settles. As to making the proposed line a convenjen.ce, to the settlers, qf the Wtfteiiina, Wley as well as to those of Hamilton, Raglan, and Whatawhata, Mr F. A, Whitaker, M.H.R., has sent a wire to the Postmaster-General, of which the following is a copy: — "Telephone communication about to be established between ' Hamilton, Whatawhata. and Raglan. I strongly recommend a station at Waiietuna.
