Oint Kihikihi conospondeut writes :—: — A ciickot match between cloven of our club and eleven of tho Alexandra Club was played here last Safcm d.iy. The weather was tine, and the ground in splendid older. Tho victoiy w.is an easy one for the Ale.xandiii men, as many of oiu.s had not practised foi a long time, some being »o\ ices in the game. The batting of Grieison and Chapman for Alexandia was splendid. The bowling (if Hititon was paiticulaily good. Houe\er, our men mean to go in for plenty of practice, so that next time wo have a match, if we do not win, at least wo will not be so easily defeated. After tho niatcl^ tho vHtor.s and local men v« out to Mr Wilkinson's new hotel, wheie a dhinoi was given to the visiting team. Mr Wilkinson pleased everyone by the .splendid spread, it was really .surprising how it could ha\e been done mi well with only a few hour's notice. Not only wiii the dinnei good, but the table was tastefully laid, which adds consideiably to the pleasure of the guests —24 sat down. After dinner, the usual loyal toasts having been honoured, Mr Nicholson, captain of the local team, proposed the health of the Alexandia team, coupled uith the name of Mr John (irierson, which vias dtnnk with musical honoms-. Mr ({liei'son responded in \ery fehcitious turnis, and gave tho toast of success to the Kihikihi club, coupled with the name of Mr Nicholson, the captain, which was also received with musical honouis. Mi Nicholson responded. The health of Mi and Mis Wilkinson was then proposed by Mr Nicholson, who complimented them on the excellence of the arrangements made for the comfort of the guests, and wished them success. This w.is drunk in bum pels. Mr Wilkinson thanked them for their kind wishes. The lemainder of the evening was then devoted to songs and Hpoeches. The company broke up before 10, everyone being highly pleased with tho days' amusement. 1 may mention that Mr Wilkinson punided lefivshments ad lib on the ground gratis.
