Force were bathing in a warm pool near the river bank, at a higher level than the water flow from the lake. They noticed cold river water suddenly flowing into their warm pool, the river sinking to its usual level in a few minutes. The waters of the lake must have been affected to about 20 inches. It is thought that this was due to volcanic action. The weathei is dull and threatening raining the greater part of the day.
