fl/I" AYORAL ELECT I O N, Borough of Hamilton.

Lapiks and Gentlkmk.v, — As I find my private .iffairs will probably demand the whole of my attention for some time to come, I f<>el that I shall not be in a position to devote myself so entirely to the administration of the afTairb of the Borough a3 I have endeavoured to do in the past. I therefore deem it incumbent upon me to take this eaily opportunity of advising you that I do not intend to seek re-eloetion upon this occasion. It is, I think, unnecessary for me to expatiate fully upon the various important works that have been carried to a successful issue during my term of office. I would merely point out that these, I trust not unsatisfactory rc&ults, could have been accomplished, only, through the hearty co-operation and consistent support of my brother councillors. Permit me, in conclusion, to offer you my most sincere thanks for the thricerepeated honour you have bestowed upon me, and to beg for my successor a continuance of that generous and unbounded confidence which I have ever enjoyed at your hands. I have the honour to be, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your most obedient servant, JOHN KNOX.
