Disgraceful Conduct. Charles Gilmour was charged with having beendiunk and disoiderly at the Commercial Hotel on the pre\ ious day, and, further, with having cieated a disturbance at the same place. It seems that Gihnour, who was in a very drunken state when he ■nlived at Hamilton on Tuesday morning, endea\oured to fight with everybody about the place, and succeeded in inflicting injunes on about six or seven people. He then went into the hotel, broke a quantity of glass, &c, and wanted to fight the proprietor. Ultimately Sergeant McGovem arrived on the scene, and took the man into custody. A little golden Halve was applied to the biuises of the person to whoraji G-ilmoui paid the most particular attention,™ and the damage done to property in the hotel was also made good, so that no more seiious charges than those brought by the police weie prefeired against Gilmour, who pleaded guilty. The Bench fined defendant 5s and costs j for the first offence, and 30h and costs for the second, in default 14 day*>' imprisonment. The money was paid.

Breach of the Licensing Act. George Brown was charged with having committed a breach of the Licensing Act in being drunk while in charge of a horse. Defendant pleaded guilty. Soigeant McGovern said Brown was one of the victims of Gilmour, and had it not been for the somewhat rough treatment he had received, he would no doubt have gone away to his work. For some months past defendant had been keeping pretty .steady, and he had no desire to press the charge. The Bench said the charge was a very serious one. Defendant pleaded hard to be let off, laying he would take care never to come befoie their Worships again. The Bench said the minimum fine for such an offence was 20s, but looking at what the sergeant had said, they would, give the defendant another chance. They, however, cautioned him that if he came before them again the full penalty allowed would be imposed on him.
