NELSON, Tuesday.
The criminal information foi libel prefened by Mr James Selandeis, meichant. of Nelson, .against Mr Thomas 11. Mabin, average .stater, of Wellington, was heaid yesteiday. The libel was ->,ud to have occurred in a letter sent by accused to MehMS >Sha\v, Saville and Company, chaining Mr yclaudeiv, with having fotged a document. At the clobe of the evidence, the Magistrate intimated his intention of committing accused, wheieupon defendant's counsel read a complete apology, and the prosecutor offeied no objection to the withdiawal of the case. The Magistiate said he felt some difficulty in allowing the withdrawal, but he would be sorry to stand in the way of the undoubted leniency shown by the prosecutor. He then diheharged defendant.
