Anniversary Services.

The second anniversary of the above church was held in the tabernacle, Cambiidge, on Sunday last, when there was a laige attendance of members of the church from various paits of the distnet, both at the morning and evening services. Both services weie conducted by the Rev. Alfred Fairbrother, of Rotorua, who has,, on former occasions, kindly assisted at the services of this church. The sermon m the morning was preached from Matthew XII, part of verse 41, " And behold a greater than Jonas is lieio. " In the evening the te\t was Collossiaiih 11, 12th verse, " Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are nsen with him, through the faith of the opeiation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. " The remarks of the preacher dealt chiefly withtheimportant ordinance which wai about to be observed in connection with their church that evening — that of baptism by immersion. The discourse was an argumentative one in so far as the speaker refeired to the various modes of baptism as observed by the different churches. He claimed for the baptists that their baptismal oidinance was the same as obsei ved by the followers of Chi ist, and contended that in no part of the New Te&tainent could be found any authority that baptism was administered to any but believers. The ordinance of baptism was then administered to ten candidates, male and female. A collection was made at each service, and a considerable sum realised.
