Colonist G-. M. Co. — The men are breaking out quartz from two different portions of the reef for forwarding to the battery. Gold can be seen showing moie freely than hitheito. Vulcvx (x. M. Co.— The new discovery has now been pioved to be a cross lode sinking into the Promiei No. 1 leef. The manager is making preparations to break down for a crushing. The reef has been stiipped for a distance of 40 feet, and gold can be seen showing freely the whole distance. The quartz is of exactly the Hame description as in the Premier. Wellixcjtox d.M. Co.— Tn prospecting this propel ty, a nice leader of about 8 inches has been cut, in which gold can be freely been. Further developments of this important discovery will no doubt add another gold producing claim to the already numerous list on this field. New I?ini> G.M. Co.— Everyday reveals a fresh feature in this fine property. The manager is now breaking out good gold fiom both ends of the level, and from the face of the reef. The reef in itself is capable of keeping the whole 40 head constantly ciushing. Werahiko G. M. Co.— Stopinpfts being continued in the intermediate level, and the intermediate drive has been extended south for a distance of 15 feet on a reef averaging about G feet. The dirt from this portion of the ground is shaping very satisfactorily. One hundred tons of quartz are all ready for forwarding to the battery, and the hoppeis aic full. Diamond Gui/ly G. M. Co.— During the week the manager brought down some stone showing like gold. On being further prospected and developed, this claim fiom its important position in the field, will no doubt in time prove one of the laigebt gold producers in trie district. "VyAiOKONOOMAI G. M. Co.— The reef has opened qufc to six feet in thickness, and is shoving gol(J fyeeiy. Sjome nice picked stone game to hai)4 coring t«,e week. The men have now completed their contract for building the oompany's whape, which appears very comfortable and substantial. Euheka G. M. Co.— The manager is still engaged sinking the winze to connect with the rise that is being put ,up on the reef from the low level. The winze is down close on fifty feet, good blotches of gold showing in the stuff as it is broken out. There is still about forty feet to connect the rise and winze, when this is completed the mine will be opened up. The line for wire tramway to connect with county line, has been surveyed by Mr, Bayldon^ and the construction of jt will be at once, proceeded , with, ! T/jjiQ ojaiw is soi^q dwtauw P-bov^ tho

maincountyline, but when the wire tramway is connotated, which will be, about 10 chains in length, it is expected oiip man will hi able to send down at least thirty tons) a day. The trucks will be filled from a hopper at the mouth of the drive, and sent down to a large hopper standing on the county tramway, about two chains fiom the present New Find hopper. It is expected that this company will be in a position to start crushing at the beginning of the New Year. Lirrt,K Wonder Lkjj:nsl:d Holding.— In this claim a main drive has been put in. It is now in 54 feet on good likely-looking sandstone country. The lode is expected to be stmck iv a few clay. Waitoki I'jsncvnni) W. M. Co.—ln this company's giound the woJ« going on consists chiefly of surface prospecting. Waitoki G.M. Co.— ttfcoping is being canicd on iv thu block of ground immediately over the sh ift connecting with the low level, and a winze \-, being >unk fiom the sin f.ice on the footw.ill brand). This is expected to break thiough on the stope-> on the main reef. It is re:illy an excellent looking lode, and will yield good crushing bluff. The ictuins nt the batteiy from thio mine are not showing up so well as those from the other crushing*, but it is highly probable that an iinpnnemont will shoitly take place, when the quartz from the winze on the footwaJJ branch can be got down the
