The Anglican Synod opened heio to-day. Bishop Neville's addiess contained little of geneial interest, except in reference to the fact that the religious education classes conducted by the cleigy in State schools continued to be well attended. ~W| Last Niyni/. Particulars of the death of Agues Cook, killed on the railway line near Shag Point, on Monday last, show that the deceased (who was nine years of age), was, in company with her mother, standing by a hawker's cart near the railway point, when the express train came along. She died before medical aid could bo rendered. The cUieotovs of the National Mie and Marine Insurance Company recommend payment of a 10 per cent, dividend for the half-year, which, with the inteiim dividend in Maich, will be 20 per cent, per annum on the old capital.
