LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Sale of Racing Privileges. Auckland, Last Night.
Mkssks B. Toxks an td Co. sold to-day the privileges of the Pakuranga Hunt Club Kace Meeting, to bo held on the Elleishe iacecour.se on Saturday, the 17th mat. Theie was a laigo attendance, but little comj)ctition. The bidding for the gates commenced at L5O, and ran quickly up to LlOl, the purchaser being Mr McGlashan. The refreshment booths (sole right) fetched L4O (John Adams); cards, LlO (Adams). The sale realised L 152.
Meetings of Creditors. A meeting of the creditors of Thomas Waythe Gudgeon, commission agent, ay.is held this afternoon at the Supreme Courthouse. Mr Macffarlane was elected trustee. The liabilities weie .stated at L 929, of which L 722 is owiug to John Abbot, billbroker, and the assets, which consist of goldmining .stock, are set down at LB4O. Upon his statement of assets and liabilities the debtor endorsed the following memorandum :—" My failure to meet my liabilities is caused by depieciation and losses ou shares, attempts to pay off former debts, domestic trouble and expenses. My business never exceeded Ll5O per annum." The first meeting of the creditors in the estate of Eobert Martin, timber-broker, was held in the Supreme Court, to-day. The liabilities were stated at £1525, and the assets at £983. Mi Jas. Bennett was appointed trustee.
Supreme Court. At the Supreme Court, to-day, the action against the Mercury "Bay Timber Company for damage caused by driving timber, resulted in a verdict for. plaintiff, damages £50. _________
Intending investors are directed to La Don's advertisement in another column. Messrs W. J. Hunter and Co. will sell at the Cambridge yards to-day, strong express (double seated), draught colt by Blair Atbol, draught horses, medium draught colts' and fillies, &c.,'&c.
