It was agreed th.it no tendei be accepted for spreading 1 the stuff from Cowley's drain, but that the available earth be used for raiding the loadway thiough the old lake bed. The boaid resolved to proceed against Mr Cowley for putting water into the road diams, drains, contrary to the Public Woikh Act, 1882, and theieby damaging such drains. The question of the culvert acioss Crawfords G-ully was finally settled, and the tender of Messrs J. Wilson and Co., lime merchants, of Auckland and Mahuiangi, was accepted for the building of the same. The culvert will be GO feet long in the barrel, eight feet high, and the wings will be s>ome 30 feet in length, making the whole structure 90 feet long. This will enable the roadway to be laised some 25 feet above the present bridge level, and five giadients on either side of not less than 1 in 10. The price for the building of the culvert will be L4OS), the board doing all the excavation and filling in addition to this., and the cost of the whole affair will come well within the means of the board. Mr S. S. Graham, of Tamahere, has given the contractor the right to take what gravel he requires for the work off his land, and Mr Wilson considers that the material is most excellent for the making of good concrete. Work will be commenced at once, and pushed ahead vigorously, so that soon after the New Year we may expect to have the high leyel road opened for traffic and the existing dangers removed. The boundary of the Kinkiriroa and Tamahere Road Districts -not being -very clearly , defined, the engineer was instructed to see to the matter, and to report to the next meeting. Various accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting concluded.
