CAMBRIDGE CRICKET CLUB.

The above club opened the season with a scratch match in the Government paddock, Cambridge, on Saturday last. The weather was in every respect favourable, and the ground was in fairly good condition, though in Home places slightly lumpy. Judging from Satin day*) proceeding.-., it would seem «os if the Cambridge Club i.s entering upon the most successful year which it has yet experienced, both as regards the proficiency and the number of it-, member-. As an indication of the numerical stiongth of the club, we might say that each team in Saturday's contest consisted of no less than twelve members, giving the club twentyfour members in all. This is very encouraging indeed, and auguis well for the success of the .season. The play of the younger mcinlmrs on Satmd.iy w;i« paiticuhirly noticeable, showing cleaily tli.it Cambridge will be well lepiesented in cueket cucles dining the coming season. Theie was an unusually huge number of spectator.-., both ladies and gentlemen, at Sutmdays play, and thi-i we feel muc, if continued, a-v lll bo \eiy encouraging to the player.". The coimmttee will meet at tin oarly date, to an.inge the season matches with the other clubs. The following aie the somes made at Saturday's match : — cmtaix's nun:. H. E. Cotton, lbw li M.
