Weekly Markets. Auckland, Last Night: There are very few alterations from last week « quotations. The wholesale price of butter has declined to Bd, making the retail value lOd, while for eggs merchants am giving lOd and helling at Is the dozen.

South British Insurance Company. At the meeting of the South British Insurance Company on Thursday next * dividend of 15 per cent, will be declared. •

Land Sale. , At the land Hale to-day, an allotment at the corner of Wellington and Nelson-streets fetched £llflOs per foot.

Garotting in Auckland. An unsuccessful attempt to garotfc & gentleman was made in Grey-street last

night. New Zealand Timber. At the adjourned meeting of shipbuilders to-day, specimens of timber were produced, showing the extraordinary durability of kauri. , ,»'
