THE LATE FOOTBALL ACCIDENT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin, — I see by a letter in your issue of the 20th, " Old Footballer " is under the impression that Mr Hardy was wilfully injured in the match between Alexandra and Cambridge. Allow me to correct such an error. As a matter of fact Mr Hardy did not receive the fall which injured him at the hands of Mr Halls, he was thrown by one of the forwards, who certainly did not intend to hurt him. Mr Halls' position as i a member of the A.O. prevents him giving a contradiction through the press to Old Footballer's accusation ; it is therefore" \m- i fair to bring such a charge against him under the circum&tances. As long as the barbarous Rugby rules are in force there ! will be accidents. There is scarcely a match played under those rules in which one or more of the players are not injured, sometimes severely, and the sooner they are modified the better. —l am, &c., One Who Was Tjiebe.
