PROROGATION OF PARLIAMENT.
Parliament was prorogued by Commison Saturday afternoon to the 20th December, on which date, as is customary, a further prorogation will take place. Before the prorogation on Saturday, Sir George Grey wished to give notice of a motion for next session, but the acting speaker, MrHamlin, disallowed it, though Sir George Grey pi otested that he was right. The following is the notice of motion Sir G. Grey wished to give :—: — " To move for leave to introduce, on the first day of next session, a Bill entitled an Act to Provide for the Equitable Settlement of Claims to Land under any Regulations, to retired sailors of the .Royal Navy, soldiers, or volunteers, for services performed in New Zealand, or in the event of any such claimants having to provide for the ascertainment and adjustment of the rights which the widows and children of such deceased claimants may have to any such lands."
