Auckland v. Wellington.
The final match of the series in which the Auckland representatives were engaged was played on Saturday, at the New town ground, Wellington. The day \\ as fine, and there was a large attendance of visitors, but the ground, fiom an Auckland point of vinw, was not in the best possible condition. In the first spell Warbiick kicked a goal for the strangers s- from the field,' and shortly afterwards Auckland lost the valuable aid of WhiteF'ide," who strained the muscles of his foot.' In the second spell Davy kicked a goal from the field for Wellington, and at the'end each side made four points* Wellington claimed a disputed try. The match was hardly foughtfrom start to finish, but in thesecond spell the visitors were playing one man short, and, consequently, were at some disadvantage. The Auckland team were entertained at dinner in the evening, and left for homo on Sunday.
