Loxdov, August 27. Two serious collisions, attended with loss of life, occurred in the Channel. The steamers W'oodbuni and Lostolc being run into and sunk. Twenty persons are repotted to have been di owned.
Part*, August 26. The funeral of the late Comte cle Chiimboul hao been .arranged to take place on the 3td proximo. The ceremony will be attended by both Bouibon and Orleanists Princes.
Paius August 27. The Temps in an issue to-day publishes a telegram ivom its correspoudeub in Tonquin, announcing that the King of Aniuin has submitted to the French rotcc, and offered the services of his tioops in the event of further military operations in Tonquin being necessaiy. The King also accepted the terms offcied by die French Commission, who prooeeded to Hue to negotiate for the cessation of hostilities, and agreed to pay the war indemnity demanded. The French ttoops meanwhile holding the forls which they recently captured, and which commanded the city as security for the fulfilment of the provisions of the compact at rived at, which also recognises a French claim to a protectorate over the country.
Batavia, August 27. A volcanic eruption has broken out on the Island of Cracitoa, in the Straits of Sunda. The outburst is terrific, and is plainly visible from the town. News is to hand fiom Anjer and Suiting, on the J.iva coast, that a serious influx of the sea has been experienced, and much damage has been caused in both places.
London, August 27. The Litest intelligence from Madagascar reports that Queen Ran.ivolo is (lead, but the statement requires confirmation. The fiist portion of the cargo of mutton on board the steamer lonic from Lyttelton was placed on the miuket to-day. The meat was of piime quality, and lealised from 7d to 8d per pound.
Vienna, August 27. A serious agitation against the Maygais hns In ok en out in Cioatia, a distuot in Southern Austria. A state of siesje has bc?n declared, and troops have been despatched to the scene of the disturbance. - Reports to hand state that the antiJewish noting continues in Western Hungary. Troops have boon called out, and seveial conflicts with the rioters have taken place, in which numbeis on both sides have been killed and wounded.
