Mr -T. D. Powdrcli, a well-known lacing man, died ye&teiday afternoon. On .Saturday afternoon a huge public meeting was. held, when it wo& decided to form a company, to bo called tho Wcbt Coast Meat and Produce Company, with, a capital of £0000 in £5 shares. Much (Mtlmsiabin was displayed, and a larjfe number of shares have already been applied for. At a public meeting on Saturday even* ing it was resolved to celebrate the opening of the Hue on the 23rd hist., by a luncheon on the arrival of the train from Wanganui, and a l.all in the evening. Major Atkinson will be invited to attend to declare the line open.
