[reuter's telegrams.] Sydney, August 9. Sailed, this afternoon : The City of New York, for San Frannißco, via Auckland) with £12,800 in specie. Tho Phconix Park informers were placed on board H.M.S. Nelson to-day.
[Received August 10th, 1.5 a.m.] Sydney, August 9. In reply to inquiries which have been made by the New Zealand Government as to the probability of the Irish informers being sent to Now Zealand, Mr A. Stuart, Premier, has telegraphed to the effect that the affair was ended as far as New South Wales was concerned, inasmuch as the Imperial authorities had now taken the matter in hand.
Brisbane, August 9. Large importations of Chinese labourers are now being made into the colony, in anticipation of repressive legislation at an early date.
ADELAIDE, August 9. lii the Legislative Assembly last night, the motion by Mr Ward in favour of uniting in the general action of the colonies in regard to New Guinea and New Hebrides was rejectedon a division. The question was opposed by the Government, but at the same time Mr Bray, the Picmier, announced that he had accepted the invitation of Victoria to join in the proposed conference on the annexation question.
