Attention is. called to' clause 23 of the • Conditions" of Contract, which provides - that workmen, tradesmen, and labourers of every class employed on the works to | which these conditions refer shall be paid * their wnjjes in full in money, current coin of the colony, •at least once- in every fortnight, and no ticket or other system I of payment' by provisions, liquors, or goods will on any pretence be ullowed. The workmen of every class shall be paid' on the works if -it be possible, or in some building adjoining, and in no case shall they be paid at a public-house or other place where liquors or refreshments are r sold. The penalty for any breach of this clause, as often 'as the same shall happen, is fifty pounds ,' and it is lawful for the Minister for Public -Works, without any notice to the contractor, or any further process of law, to deduct the penalty or . penalties from any moneys that tnay be due or owing to the' contractor under this , contract, or that may hereafter be due or owing thefdunder. The Pukekura Road Board hereby give notice of their intention, under the provisions contained in the Public Works Act, 1882, to CLOSE the ROAD running between section 342 and sections 343 a and 342 a, Parish of Ngaroto. TJUKEKURA ROAD DISTRICT. "THE ROADS A 2s v P BRIDGES CONSTRUCTION ACT, 1882." Proposal to levy a Special Rate, upon which a Poll will be taken on the sth day of September, 1883. WAIPA COUNTY. RATEPAYERS of Pukekura Riding, and- of that part of Rangiaohia Riding recently included in the Pukekura Highway District, are hereby notified, in terms of section 12, " Roads and Bridges Construction Act, ISS2," that the Waipa County Council have made an application to the Government for aloan of £150, for the purpose of constructing that part of the Main Cambridge-Ohaupb Road commencing 53 chains from Fleming's corner, and extending 20 chains towards Ohaupo, within the Rangiaohia Riding, the estimated cost of which is £150. j The ten yearly payments required to be made to Government will be £3 15s 'each, and the special rate required to meet them will be l-60th. of a penny on the capital value of all rateable property. Plans and particulars may be inspected ; at the office of the Council, Ohaupo.
