LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The Late Fire.

Auckland, Lnst Night. Ax inspection of the scene ot the late fire at the Sash and Door Company's Factoiy, shows that the loss w ill be very great. It is impossible to give anything like a ieliab!e estimate of the total damage, but it will amount to between £10,000 and £20,000. Besides the offices, stables, &c, a laige amount of goods has been saved, including the whole of the stock in the dtying sheds. The probable amount of damage which was avoided is about £5000 or £6000. Within a very recent period the catnpany has been making extensive additions to the machinery and plant, and all this is destroyed. The boiler, which is covered with brick-work, will doubtless be salvage. The insurances are only £5,300. The company intend to resume operations immediately at Tairua mills. Incendiarism is suspected, though there is some reason to believe the tire was caused by spontaneous combustion.

Deceased had means, and was generally cheerful in disposition, but on the previous evening she was much alarmed by the upsetting of a kerosene lamp, and it it supposed that the frigli affected her mind, causing her to commit s ucide.
