YESTERDAY. pTHE House met at 7.30. 1 Mr Tole briefly moved the second reading of the Contempt of Court Bill, the object of which was to define and limit the powers of the judges to punish for contempt. Mr Connolly agreed with the principle of the bill, but thought it would be desirable to hold over the actual legislation until the bill now ponding before the Imperial Parliament on the same subject, could be seen and compared with it. The bill was read a second time. Sir (Jr. Grey moved the second reading of the Charitable Gifts Duty Exemption BUI. Major Atkinson would not oppose the second reading, but the bill would require alteration in details in committee. Mr Kelly was opposed to exempting charitable bt quests from duty, and Messrs Peacock and Shephard supported the bill. Col. Trimble protested against the principle of the bill, which was that of of perpetual endowment. Messrs Shrim&ki, Feldwick, and Swanf 1 son supported the bill, which was then read a second time. The House went into committee on the School Committees Election Bill. Clause 4 was ictained on division by a laige majority. (Left Sitting.)
