♦ TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — In your report of the proceeding at the meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council held on Monday, the 16th inst , it is made to appear that ] had to pay £2, legal expenses, for having overcharged a native. Such is not the ease ; the facts are, I had to pay £2 2s, legal expenses, for allowing to be wrong fully impounded certain hordes belonging to a native, the borough council not hay ing supplied me with proper instruction: being the cause of my mistake. — Yours : &c, James Coombes.
