CAMBRIDGE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
« > The anniversary celebration of the Sunday - school connected with Trinity Presbyterian Church, Cambridge was brought to a close on Wednesday evening by the performance of the Service of Song entitled " Christie's Old Organ." The building was well filled by an appreciative audience. Before commencing the programme for the evening, Mr J. P. Thomson alluded in complimentary terms to the assistance rendered by Mr Brooks in the work of the church and Sabbath -school, and especially referred to the success of the musical portion of the recent concerts, &c, as having been a great measure due to his careful conductprship. He concluded his remarks by presenting Mr Brooks with a handsome silver-mounted button as a mark of his valued services. The baton bears the following inscription :—": — " Presented to F. J. Brooks, Esq., by the members of Cambridge Trinity Presbyterian Church Choir." Mr Brooks briefly acknowledged the unexpected gift, and stated his plea sure in testifying to the harmony and good feeling which existed in the choir and its surroundings. The connective readings of " Christie's Old Organ" were given by the Rev W. Evans, whose careful rendering of the pathetic story added greatly to "its interest. The several musical selections were rendered by the Sunday scholars, assisted by the church choir, and were given in excellent time, and with good effect. The accompaniments were played by Mr A. J. Evans in an effective manner. A collection was made was made at the conclusion on behalf of the Sunday-school funds, \\ hich amounted to £3 16s.
