The councillors .then proceeded > over the tramway. Ascending the Fern Spur, they examined the line as far as Butler's Spur,, on which, the rails are at pre•ent being laid, and also examined the new, tunnel through the landslip, and expressed themselves highly satisfied with the quality of work, which they btlieve to bVof a very durable nature. Tney returned to the battery in the evening, when forty pounds of stone from two leaders in the "F" claim were put through the berdans. The amalgam was retorted by Mr Adams in the blacksmith forge adjoining, and gave the satisfactory and,-J imight say, unexpected result of 3bz. 4£dwtB. to the 401bs of stone. During the day the rain came down heavily, and the trip over the field was consequently not very pleasant. The councillors went to Te Aroha in the evening, where they were met by Councillors Campbell and Chcpmell. The usual 'monthlymeeting.will be held tonight.
