WELLINGTON, Thursday.
A well attended meeting of auctioneers was held yesterday for the purpose <of considering the Auctioneers Act Amendment Bill iccently introduced into the House of Representatives. The provisions of the measure were discussed ' at length, and a number of amendments were suggested, the opinion of the meeting beiny that the Bill in its present form was inimio.il to the interests of auctioneers. It was decided to have 'the amendments printed in circular form and forwarded to each member of Parliament,
Last Night. The Dunedin Gaol Commission (have adjourned until to-morrow, when the lion. Messrs Connolly and Dick will be examined. The Select Committee on Otago dummyism report that it. is useless proceeding with the iuquiry unless a bill is passed giving indemnity to witnesses who might criminate 'themselves. On ihe report being brought up to-day by Mr Pyke, Mr Kolleston forthwith asked le&vft to introduce the required bill-without notice, stating that he would ask to have it passed through all its stages on Tuesday. The bill wns introduced, aud read a first time.
