CAMBRIDGE BAPTIST TABERNACLE.
+ A social gathering of the congregation of the new Baptist Tabernacle, Cambridge, was held in tho Tabernacle school-room on Tuesday evening. There was- a considerably large number present, the Rev. C. Carter presiding. The object of the meeting was to excite the interest of the members in liquidating the debt by thoroughly canvassing the district. A tea constituted the main portion of the evening's programme, the material being both choice and well selected. The tables having been cleared, the Rev Mr Carter .addressed a few words to the meeting. His remarks, which were both earnest and practical, were chiefly based on Christian union and fellowship. Mr Morris also delivered an address, in which he incited all to show their earnest sympathy with the work in view by practical application and continnal'labour. Messrs Trewheellar, Bright, Johnson, Houghton, and Shoard also made a few remarks, those of the latter gentleman having a most telling effect. It was then unanimously agreed that all who are members of the church and congregation, and who are willing to assist in collecting towards the liquidation of the debt be requested to hand in their names to Mr Morris, or any. of the .officers of the church. A discussion ensued respecting the, financial position ofe the church, and' Mesdaines Mynott and Morris voluntarily offered to canvass for subscriptions. The programme ' of the evening, was interspersed with music, and the ' Rev. C. Carter closed with prayer. : , i • <
