PARLIAMENTARY NOTES. [TELEGRAPH.-SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.]

Government Business. Wellington, Last Night. Triß Financial Statement is expected on Tuesday, and the Public Works Statement on the Friday following, if Mr Montgomery's motion of censure does not interfere,

The Licensing Act. Next week Mr Sutton moves for a return showing (1) the number of licensing districts* in the colony ; (2) the number of committees which have been elected by the ratppayers ; (3) the number of uncontested and contested elections ; (4) the number of districts wheiein the licensing committee has been appointed by the Government. It is probable he will introduce a bill to amend the Licensing Act. The Annexation Question.

On lnursflay the Colonial Treasurer mous, "That this House approves of tlrj steps taken by the Go\ ernment in conjuncfcioit with other of the Australian colonies, to promote the establishment of British rule in certain islands of the Pacific ; that this House undertakes for it« pai t to givo effect to any assurance that may be required by the Imperial Government 5 that this colony will, in conjunction with the other colonies ot the Austialasia, bear a fair share of the necessary expense."

The Vote of Censure. The uo-uonfidence motion made its appparance lather unexpectedly at the commencement of to-day's sittings. The Government being perfectly confident ot the result, it is not by any means exciting, It is based on the memorandum of the ControllerGeneral to the Government, and which was kid by his express wish on the table of the House last night. It charges the Tieasuier with prouuiing an imprest supply of £192,150 in coutiavention of the Hcxenncs Act of last session. To all appearances this proceeding on the part of the Opposition members has not been a well concei ted one, ami judging from the ill-tempeted way in which Major Atkinson spoke, it would seem to have come down on the Government wholly unexpectedly. The debate, so far an it has gone, has been ptetty well sustained, in all probability it will close to-night, and as stated nbove the icsiilt is fully anticipated.
