DUNEDIN, Thursday.

At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce aud consignees interested in regard to the goods-shed fire, several speakers, including the Hon. Mr Reynolds, expresed the opinion that the Government «ere liable as common earners, and also through having; neglected to take pioper precautions against fire. A committee was appointed to ascertain the position of the consignees in regard to the fire, and to take legal, advice, if necessary. The following resolutions were also carried :— "That our representative, Mr H. S. Fish, junior, be required to apply to the Government to have all wooden sheds in the railway department how erected, and about to be' erected, removed at once.andstrongstone building substituted, for the protection of merchants' goods."
