The Licensing Court for the above district was held in the Coiut-liousiP, Cambridge, at noon yesterday. Present; — Commissioners J. Fisher (chairman), E. Allen, Capt. Owen, R. Reynolds, aud J, Gane. Application was made by Dennis O'Loughlin for a publican's license at Cambridge West: A plan of the house, police report and copy of Licensing Act were laid befoie the court, The Clerk of the Couit stated that theic wns no petition a«ainst the license being granti'il, and that the application was made in due form, in accordance with the act. Commissioner Gane said that the geneial feeling in the district was against gi anting the license. Capt." Owen stated that he had beard to the contnuy. Commissioner Gane proposed tint the license be not gi anted on the grounds that the hotel was not requiu-d, as thete was plenty of accommodation of the kind in the neighbourhood. Seconded by Mr Reynolds. Capt. Owen said that this -\\as the largest district in the county without such accommodation, and the people in the immediate neighbourhood of the house wero nearly unaniinon&ly in favour of the application being granted, and moved as an amendment that the license be granted. Mr Allen, in seconding the amend-" ment, said that as the majority of the" people of the township did not object, be could see no reason for refusing the license 1 Tho amendment was 'put artel lost.
