London, May 28. Michael Fag an, the third of the Phoenix Park murderers, was hanged to-day, at Dublin. The proceedings passed off without disturbances. The homewards mails, pers.s. Garonne from Melbourne on April 17, were delivered to-day, via Naples. The first portion of the cargo of frozen mutton, ex British King, from Lyttleton, was placed on the market to-day, and brought 6jjd per lb. Part of the shipment h.-is been found to have been hastily frozen before being placed on board. May 30. A blue-book on the subject of New Guinea has been published, and laid before Parliament. The despatches contained in it are dated up to January List, and show that prior to that time both Sir Michiel Hicks-Beach and Earl Derby had declimed to agree to its annexation. There is nothing later in the blue-bonk, except telegrams from the colonies urging the Secretary of State to approve of the annexation. The Standard to-day states that Earl Derby has decidpd to decline to annex New Guinea as a Crown colony, but will permit the establishment of a few trading stations on the coast of that island opposite Torres Straits. Telegrams are to hand reporting that the anti-Jewish agitation at Rostoff, in Russia, continues. The Jewish quarter of the town has been plundered and burnt, and hundreds of Jews have been driven from their homes. May 31. James Carey and the other informers against the Phoenix murderers, have left Dublin and quitted Ireland, but their destination has not vet transpired.
New York, May .30. The Suspension Bridge, between New York and Brooklyn, which was recently opened, w.is ciow led with people to-day, when cries arose that it was unsafe, and <i stampede occured. Many people weie tinder foot, and sc\ era! were killed.
[Received June 1, 230 p. in ] The Frozen Meat. London, May 31. Further information regarding the Britibh King's cugo shows that the same is partially affected by mildew, and that the interior of the carcasses is in sonic cases quite unfit for consumption.
•The Egyptian Consul. It has now transpired that Major Exelyn Baring will have the same rank in Egypt as Sir Edward Malet, viz., Agent and Consul- General and Minister Plenipotentiary.
A Bellicose M.P. Mr McOw.ii, M.P., having reproved Mr Kelly, M.P., for rudeness to Mr Forstcr, he has received a challenge fiom Mr Kelly, who lias accordingly been ordered to appear at the bar of the House to-morrow, to e* plain his conduct.
