GISBORNE, Last Night.

Tuta, on behalf of the Ngatiporous, presented a greenstone to His Excellency valued at £100. This relic has been handed down for twenty generations. Whilst the towing punt at Tolago Bay was on Sunday conveying goods from on board the schooner Gisborne, there was a heavy sea on bar, and the punt was swamped. Captain Skinner was on board the punt steering The goods, of the value of about £500 , went down. Captain Skinner was rescued by men in the towing boat. A large quantity of the goods were recovered, but a heavy loss falls on Captain Skinner by the accident. A meeting of farmers is convened to take steps for the futherance of a scheme for disposing of the surplus fat stock of Poverty Bay.
