WAITOA ROAD BOARD.
The Waitoa Road Board, at a special meeting on Saturday, niade the special r.ite as advertised in The Wcnkato Times. The adjourned annual meeting of ratepayers also took place as advertised, whpil Plprht ratopayoro put In an appearance. Mr Chepmell, the chairman, read the balance-sheet with the auditor's report, which were adopted. He also read the annual report of the board, which was adopted. The following is the balance-sheet :—: — Account of tub Receipts and Disbursements of the Waitoa Road .Board in the County of Piako for the Year ended March 31st, 1883. Receipts. — Balance in hand on the Ist April, 1882, £956 17s ; from rates, viz. : General rates of Id in the £ on £20,519 6s 6d, £969 17 sd, less arrears, Ss 9d, £969 8s 8d ; arrears of rates, £64 7s ; from Government, viz. : Grant for roads in Te Aroha block, £400, on account of thiid of deferred payment receipts, £288 ; subscriptions by ratepayers, £174 ISs sd ; price of land sold— road closed, £1 ; price of old timber sold, £5 ; deposits on contracts, £46; other receipts, including amount of burnt cheque, £4 2s 3d ; total, £2909 13s 4d. Expenditure.— On district works, viz. : New roads and bridges construction, £1502 4s 3d ; existing roads, repairs and improvements, £528 10s 8d ; materials, viz. : Purchase of timber, pipes, &c, £24 15s 4d ; freight, £19 4s 4d ; on management, viz. : Salaries, including engineer's commission, £JO4 17s ; collection of rates, £30 15s 4d ; valuation, £15 ; travelling expenses, £8 10s ; advertising, £30 4s 6d ; sundries, £14 0s 9d ; deposits returned, £67 : balance in hand on the Ist April, 1883, £564 11s 2d ; total, £2909 13s 4d. Statement of the Assets and Liabilities of the Waitoa Road District ox the 31 st March, 1883. Assets.— Balance in hand, £564 11s 2d ; rates due, £71 10s 7d ; subscription promised, £20 ; total, £656 Is 9d. Liabilities. — Contribution to Government drainage worts, £288 ; salaries and commission on collection otf rates, £12 4s 6d ; contrftota in progress about £27$ j
