WAIKATO MARKETS.

Ho.vrKß and Co.'s Rkport.— At the Ohaupo Yards on Thursday, May 17th, them was a good muster of cattle and sheep yarded, young cattle were in better demand than for some time, but grown cattle, especially steers. in low condition, were almost unsaleable. Dairj cows wero in demand, and sold fairly well. We quote— Springing cows and heifers, L 4 to Lfl 12s Cd ; cilvcs and yearlings, from LI 5s to I*l 15s ; two year old steers, from L 2 10^ to L 3 ; steers, from L 4 7s 0J to L 6 ; fat cows, L 4 to L 6. 10s. Store cwc.s,agcd, from 8b to 9s 6d ; lambs, 6s to 7s each. Unbroken colts, two years old, from LStoLlOlOs. At the Cambridge Horse Yard> on Saturday, May 19th, a large numbei of useful horses were entered, good competition existed throughout, and a large num bor exchanged hands. Hicks and ponies, from L 4 5s to Ll2 ; active light harness horses, LlB t o L3O ; medium draught mares, from Ll4 to LlB 15». Secondhand saddles, lrom LI 8< to L 2 f>3 ; new saddles, L 2 10 3 to L 2 13» (Id. At the Cambridge Yards on Wednesday, May 23rd(lhursd,iy, u.-ual sale day, being holiday), a good number of fat cattle were penned, and all sold to the local butchers. Fat heifers, IA 5s to Lf» ; fat cows, from L 4 NMo L 5 7s Cd ; fat steers, L 0 7s <i& to L(I 10s. AUo, 4000 ewes and wethers from Napier were offered. ' There was a good attend inte ot bujcri, although the day was extremdy wet, w hit h did not improve the appearance of tlvc sheep ; they were also 41 days on ihe road. Many were very low in condition. 3070 were sold at auction and pm.itcly, at satisfactor) prices, tin- balance, \\7., about 060 ewes and 150 wethers, arc Jor private sale. Ewes sold for 9-., 10 s Cd and 12 S : wethers, 10j Gd, lls and 12s, respectively. We also sold, by private contract, 1000 wethers at lls 6d, also a good number of riding and harness horses.
