TE AWAMUTU ANNUAL RACE MEETING.

Tiir above meeting comes off to-day (the Queen's Birthday,) and should the weather pi ove at all favourable, a good attendance may be looked for, especially as the day is set apart as a holiday. It is to be hoped that the unfavourable weather experienced during the last few days will have ceased ere the bell rings for the first event, and that, like last year, the club will be favoured with fine weather. Te Awamutu is most admirably suited for an up-country meeting, being within easy distance of the snrlounding townships, and on the main line of railway. A special train will run from Mercer, calling at intermediate stations, for Te Awamutu, returning after the last race. Tbe stewards have been most assiduous in their endeavours to make the meeting a success, and the only thing that is required is Queen's weather The Te Awamutu Band will be on the ground, and thus enliven and add to the enjoyment of the day. The first race will start at 1 o'clock.
